Lightning alerts for amateur radio operators

Watch your station from anywhere and know when lightning comes inside your chosen distance.

Can I get lightning alerts for my radio station when I am away?

Yes. Add your station as your saved place and turn on Alerts. The saved place keeps its own alert distance, and My Location has a separate one, so you hear about lightning near the antennas while you are at work or on the road.

Set up alerts for a saved place

How do I choose the alert distance around my antennas?

In the alert settings, pick your saved place and move the slider to the exact distance you want, in kilometers or miles. Many operators disconnect antennas when storms come near, and a larger distance alerts you earlier.

See how nearby alerts work

Will the alert make a sound, and how often?

Yes, nearby alerts play a sound. Under Repeat sound, choose Once per storm, a pause of 15 to 60 minutes while the storm goes on, or Frequent for a sound with each update. During quiet hours, alerts keep updating without sound. My Location and the saved place each sound on their own.

Learn how lightning alerts work
