How do I check for lightning near the beach?
Open the live map and zoom to your stretch of coast. Red strikes are the newest; orange and pale yellow are older, up to 60 minutes. Choose Ground to see ground-reaching strikes over the water and along the shore.
Can I get lightning alerts for the beach while I am on the way?
Set the beach you are heading to as your saved place and turn on Lightning alerts. You get nearby alerts for the beach while you are on the way, and each alert opens the live map at the beach.
How can I tell if a storm offshore is heading in?
Turn on radar to see radar and lightning together. Compare where the newest red strikes appear with the older ones to see which way activity is moving along the coast.
